Introducing Model R

The future of avoidance credits

Model R reimagines avoidance credits by questioning everything.

What if we we take the latest certification standards as the start line, not the finish line?

What if we combine LiDAR with dynamic baseline checks?

What if we deflate our baseline? 1.2 tons per credit.

What if we combine avoidance, removals and durable storage?

What if we don't stop there?

Not just one or two improvements.

Model R Features include:

Better baselines, dynamically checked.

Historical limitation:
Poor baselines were the #1 problem with traditional avoidance projects. Methods were simple and validation was insufficient.

Model R Feature:
The latest Certification Standard methodologies are a big step in the right direction (Core Carbon Principles aligned).

Model R goes further. We are building Dynamic Baseline Checks using Synthetic Controls. This means that when the world changes our baseline changes.

Dynamic Baseline Checks are designed to capture real world impact and give you confidence in every credit.

LiDAR for accurate biomass estimations.

Historical limitations:
Traditional methods for estimating biomass (allometrics) lack accuracy validation.

This can lead to a greater than 1.5x difference in biomass estimates versus reality (Sylvera).

Model R Feature:
Revalue models use terrestrial and drone-based LiDAR for precise and accurate carbon stock measurements.

This creates laser-measured 3D models of the biomass volumes for greater accuracy and a clear picture of biomass across the landscape. This is the future for biomass measurements.

Deflated baselines. 1.2 tons/credit.

Historical limitations:
Too many historic credits equated to less than 1 ton of real world emissions.

Model Feature:
1.2 tons of real world impact per credit.

The most important thing about a carbon credit is not that it is 1.0 tons.

It is that it is at least 1.0 tons of real world impact.

How best to cut through the noise? Deflate the baseline even after using conservative assumptions, LiDAR-backed biomass estimations, and Dynamic Baseline Checks. These are credits you (and the planet) can trust.

eDNA+ for advanced biodiversity monitoring.

Historic limitations:
Biodiversity monitoring has been constrained by resource and technological limitations.

Model Features:
Revalue Models combine traditional approaches with advanced biodiversity monitoring techniques:

1. eDNA for more effective identification of species present.

2. Bioacoustics + camera traps for even richer data on where species are present.

3. Revalue's Connectivity Metric is a prioprietary metric for measuring the change in habitat connectivity over time.

This is the future of biodiversity monitoring, today.

Next-level community impact measurements.

Historic limitation:
In the past it has been hard to get a real understanding of the impact on communities. Data has been limited.

Model Features:

1. Scientifically rigorous impact data

Revalue deploys scientifically rigorous community surveys to understand the real impact for communities. This means effective sampling strategies, unbiased questions, advanced analytics, and data which allows us to draw statistical significance.

2. Zero-day FPIC assurance

Revalue deploys the first survey after FPIC to get a second check on how effective FPIC has actually been. This allows us to work with developers to address any flags upfront.

Reach out to see how we are setting the bar for community impact monitoring.

Ratings Agency assurance, Resilience Reserve, risk insurance, Computer Vision, and more...

We have not stopped at a few improvements. Model R includes:

1. Ratings Agency assurance. Do not just take our word for it. Revalue seeks ex-ante assessments ahead of issuance from the leading Ratings Agencies.

2. Resilience Reserves. This is a capital reserve associated with the project which can be drawndown if needed to increase resilience. E.g., If there is a delay to credit issuance.

3. Risk Insurance. Revalue has worked with multiple insurance players to make insurance available. Want to mitigate Political Risk? We can get coverage.

4. Always additional. The leading standards only check additionality at the start of a baseline. Revalue Models recheck ahead of every issuance.

5. Article 6 Authorisation. Revalue Model credits will seek approvals for Corresponding Adjustments (CAs) where jurisdictionally appropriate.

6. Computer Vision monitoring. Revalue deploys the latest in Deep Learning techniques to identify new roads and other important events in landscape.

Always improving (not perfect).

Revalue's Model R credit approach is a leap into the future for avoidance credits.

However, we will never claim to be perfect. There will always be ways to improve our credits.

Spot a limitation in our approaches? Please tell us. We welcome feedback and strive to improve our Models every year.

Introducing Model V

Setting the bar for reforestation credits.

For Model V we are looking to create the future for reforestation-based removals credits today.

Every Revalue Model starts with the best Certification Standard as the start line, not the finish line.

Meeting the ABACUS label as standard
Meeting the Symbiosis Coalition Quality Criteria as standard

Going beyond with optimal-site selection, efficient seed-to-nursery pipeline, next generation biodiversity monitoring, resilience reserves, and more.

And what if we combined nature and engineering for 1,000+ year durable removals over time? (Model N)

Not any ARR credit.

Model V Features include:

ABACUS label as standard.

To earn the ABACUS label, restoration projects must meet Verra’s VCS and VM0047 Methodology requirements and go beyond with:

Dynamic Additionality: Projects must use real-time comparisons with control areas to measure and validate the additional impact of their restoration efforts.

Transparency: Projects must publish all inventory data, justify their modelling methods, and provide annual updates on ecosystem disturbances.

Permanence: Restoration efforts must aim to establish resilient, diverse ecosystems, supported by a robust strategy to maintain stabilised carbon stocks both during and after the crediting period.

Avoided Displacement of Food Production: Projects must safeguard or boost agricultural productivity in the project area.

This is the starting point for Model V.

Symbiosis Coalition Quality Criteria as standard.

Carbon projects under the Symbiosis Coalition must meet strict environmental and social benchmarks:

  1. ABACUS Compliance: Peer-reviewed ARR methods, dynamic benchmarks, and transparent data reporting.
  2. Ecological Suitability: Ecoregion-appropriate forests without albedo trade-offs.
  3. Seedling Pipeline: Strong germplasm supply without harming ecosystems.
  4. Land Tenure: Verified, dispute-free land rights.
  5. Verra CCB Alignment: Community engagement and biodiversity protection.
  6. Financial Transparency: Clear reporting on community benefits.
  7. Native Species: Diverse ecosystems with sustainable, non-invasive plants.
  8. Biodiversity Plan: Science-backed monitoring and reporting.

Model V goes beyond even these requirements.

Dynamically checked baselines.

Historical Limitation: Static ARR baselines rely on fixed historical assumptions, ignoring changes in land use, natural regrowth, or policies, leading to inaccurate carbon removal estimates and undermined carbon credit credibility.

Model V Feature: Revalue uses advanced machine learning, high-quality data, and local expertise to redefine ARR baselines. Tailored models ensure accurate control area selection, calibrated datasets like LiDAR improve biomass measurements, and robust matching algorithms provide pixel-level precision.

Optimal site selection.

Historical Limitation: Many projects rely on basic criteria that miss ecological nuances, risking long-term sustainability and project success. Standards like ABACUS, Symbiosis, and VM0047 require ecological suitability, avoiding sensitive ecosystems, and securing land tenure. However, current methods often overlook complex factors like connectivity and long-term ecosystem impacts, leading to suboptimal results.

Model V Feature: Revalue goes beyond ABACUS, Symbiosis, and VM0047 by assessing sites with ecologically suitable biophysical variables, including soil, slope, and forest connectivity. Our approach optimises biodiversity, resilience, and carbon removal by ensuring restored areas integrate seamlessly into natural ecosystems.

Site-specific species design.

Historical Limitation: Many reforestation projects focused on non-native monocultures, covering a third of the voluntary carbon market. These low-diversity plantations fail to support local biodiversity and are vulnerable to pests, diseases, and climate change. Even projects using native species often plant fewer than 10 types, limiting their ecological benefits.

Model V Feature: We design projects with 70–80% native species and 20–30% naturalised species for optimal biodiversity and resilience. Using local forest data and community input, we select species that thrive in their environments while supporting food security and cultural needs. By following strict biodiversity guidelines, we ensure our projects achieve long-term ecological and community benefits.

Efficient Seed-to-Nursery Pipeline.

Historical Limitation: Many project developers struggle with limited access to diverse seeds and saplings, impacting project success. This often leads to monocultures that are more vulnerable to pests, diseases, and environmental changes. A lack of seed storage, poor seed viability, and insufficient species diversity are ongoing issues. These challenges can undermine restoration efforts and hinder the resilience of ecosystems.

Model V Feature: We build a robust seedling pipeline while respecting local ecosystems. Our approach includes selecting resilient mother trees, supporting community-led seed collection, and partnering with local seed banks and nurseries. We ensure seed quality with strict testing and provide optimal storage conditions to extend seed viability. Our community-focused model ensures long-term success and local ownership of restoration projects.

Enhanced soil health and monitoring.

Historical Limitation: ARR projects face soil challenges such as erosion, compaction, nutrient imbalances, and low microbial activity, which slow plant growth and recovery. Monitoring soil health is difficult due to high costs, a lack of baseline data, and ineffective indicators, making it hard to track improvements. These issues delay tree growth, carbon sequestration, and overall project success.

Model V Feature: Revalue conducts detailed soil assessments in both project areas and reference forests to guide restoration efforts. We design targeted interventions, such as mycorrhizal fungi inoculation and leguminous cover crops, to improve soil health.

Next generation biodiversity monitoring.

Historical Limitation: Ensuring reliable, high-quality biodiversity data from the field can be challenging, especially in remote or ecologically complex areas. Current monitoring methods are not designed for the future, where biodiversity scrutiny will increase.

Model V Feature: Revalue uses next-gen monitoring techniques like eDNA, bioacoustics, and camera traps to provide more accurate, scalable biodiversity data. We measure key metrics, including species richness, abundance, and spatial connectivity, giving a more comprehensive picture of ecosystem health. Our approach goes beyond standard methods, ensuring more reliable and forward-thinking results for biodiversity monitoring.

Resilience Reserve, Risk Insurance, LiDAR-Backed Carbon Stocks, Day Zero FPIC Assurance and more...
We have not stopped at a few improvements. Model V includes:
  1. Resilience Reserves. This is a capital reserve associated with the project which can be drawn down if needed to increase resilience. E.g., If there is a delay to credit issuance.
  2. Risk Insurance. Revalue has worked with multiple insurance players to make insurance available. Want to mitigate Political Risk? We can get coverage.
  3. Always additional. The leading standards only check additionality at the start of a baseline. Revalue Models recheck ahead of every issuance.
  4. Article 6 Authorisation. Revalue Model credits will seek approvals for Corresponding Adjustments (CAs) where jurisdictionally appropriate.
  5. Day Zero FPIC Assurance. Revalue deploys the first survey after FPIC to get a second check on how effective FPIC has actually been. This allows us to work with developers to address any flags upfront.
Always improving (not perfect).

Revalue’s Model V credit approach is a leap into the future for removal credits.

However, we will never claim to be perfect. There will always be ways to improve our credits.

Pathway to durable storage.

At Revalue, we focus on lasting impact. First, we stop deforestation. Next, we bring degraded lands back to life by regenerating nature at scale. Then, we lock in carbon for the long haul. With Model N (Natural Air Capture and Storage - NACS), we use nature-tech engineering to store CO₂ securely in the landscape.

Revalue is developing models which avoid, remove and durably store COâ‚‚ in single landscapes.

Introducing Model N

Nature meets engineering for
durable COâ‚‚ removals.

This is Natural Air Capture & Storage (NACS),
from Revalue.

NACS (Model N) harnesses the sequestration power of nature and durability of engineered solutions.

Our approach allows us to increase the removal of Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere with nature, aligned with the health of the ecosystem.

Select biomass is then converted into a form which can be stored for 200-1,000 year+ durability.

What happens after an avoidance or reforestation project's credits finish? With the addition of Model N we can produce durable removals in perpetuity.

Can you imagine an oil carbon well which sequesters COâ‚‚, values nature, and never runs dry? This is NACS.

How does NACS compare to engineered-only solutions?

NACS values nature.

Some engineered-only solutions use biomass as feedstock. However, this is waste biomass which typically comes from agriculture, sawmills, or other similar sources.

Natural Air Capture & Storage creates value for and protects tropical forests, mangroves, and other critical ecosystems.

This is the power of creating durable carbon removals from natural ecosystems.

Scale of climate impact.

Our lead NACS model has the potential produce 5-10x the credit volume per year of the largest DACS facility, at a fraction of the cost.

In addition, because NACS values nature, it helps protect our ecosystems and avoid additional emissions into the atmosphere through loss of nature.

NACS is critical for the 5-10 gigatons of durable removals required to hit our climate targets.

Cost / ton.

Natural Air Capture & Storage (NACS) can produce durable carbon removals at a price/ton which is more-than-competitive with engineered-only solutions.

In fact, by blending avoiding, removing, and durably storing Carbon Dioxide in a single landscape it greatly decreases the financial hurdles required to produce durable removals at scale.

Biodiversity impact.

Engineered-only solutions have marginal to negative benefits on biodiversity.

Natural Air Capture & Storage (NACS) protects and regenerates our most critical, natural ecosystems. This has an outsized impact on biodiversity and our most critically endangered species.
